Ruby C. Hunt YMCA Fall Soccer

PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION BEFORE REGISTERING!

Fall is right around the corner and that means it’s time for our Fall sports leagues to start back up! This Fall we are offering fun and engaging sports leagues for your children to enjoy! We will have a parent meeting on August 29th, 2023 in the Ruby C. Hunt Library at 6:30 PM. We will have a coaches meeting for anyone interested in coaching on August 31st, 2023 in the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA Library at 6:30 PM.

We offer youth soccer from ages 3 to 15!

Little Kicks, ages 3-4, practice once a week and develop the fundamentals of soccer. They do not play games at this age, but we strive to develop them as beginners through fundamentals and skills.

The divisions we offer that both practice and play games are 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 15U.

Volunteer Coaches and Sports Sponsorships are always needed! Financial Assistance may be available upon request. Contact us for more information.

Locations:

  • All skills nights and practices will take place at the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA in Boiling Springs, NC
    • Address: 1322 Patrick Ave, Shelby, NC, 28152
  • All games will take place at the Dover Foundation YMCA in Shelby, NC
    • Address: 411 Cherryville Rd, Shelby, NC 28150

Skills Nights:

  • Skills nights will be for any players 7 years or older.
  • There will be no skills night for any player that is younger than 7 years older.
  • 8U: September 5th @ 5:30 PM
  • 10U: September 5th @ 6:30 PM
  • 12U: September 7th @ 5:30 PM
  • 15U: September 7th @ 6:30 PM

Registration:

  • Registration will go from July 17th to September 8th, 2023.
  • On-time registration will be from July 17th to August September 3rd, 2023.
    • Age groups may be capped after on-time registration due to team size limits. Please sign up during on-time registration to secure your spot.
    • Late registration will be from September 4th to September 8th, 2023.

A late fee of $10.00 will be charged to anyone who signs up after August 27th, 2023.

Member Rate: $37.50

Non-Member Rate: $65.00

Financial Assistance available upon request.

Practices:

  • Practices will start the week of September 11th, 2023
  • Practices will be on a weekday evening, excluding Wednesdays.
    • This means your practices could be on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday starting anytime from 5:15 PM (for Little Kicks) to 7:30 PM 
      • Practice times may be earlier than normal for outdoor sports due to a lack of daylight. Please consider this when signing up.
    • We allow our volunteer coaches to pick their practice days to best fit their schedule since they are giving their time to volunteer for our community.
    • Specific practice days and times for each coach will be posted under the sport they are coaching as soon as we know it, but it may not be communicated until the initial message from your coach.
      • This initial message will come sometime after your child’s skills night or (if your child does not have a skills night or misses skills night) after September 5th, 2023.

Games:

  • Games will start for soccer on September 30th, 2023
  • Games for soccer will be on a weekday evening, excluding Wednesdays.
    • This means your games could be on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday starting anytime from 5:15 PM to 7:30 PM 
    • Soccer games may also be on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (at the latest)
    • Game times may be earlier than normal for outdoor sports (baseball and soccer) due to a lack of daylight. Please consider this when signing up.
    • Ages 7 years and older will play an eight-game season. Ages younger than 7 years old will play a six-game season. Little Kicks (3-4-year-old soccer) does not play games. Little Kicks will instead have eight practice sessions from 5:15 PM to 6:00 PM. There will be one session each week.

Participant Requests:

  • We do accept requests for specific teams or coaches; however, we ask that any request be made out of necessity (transportation, family, work schedule, etc.)
  • Please only request a teammate or coach if you absolutely need it.
  • With this in mind, NOT ALL REQUESTS WILL BE MET AND WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT ANY REQUEST WILL BE MET.

Y-Gametime:

  • For all game scheduling we will be using Y-Gametime.
  • The game links will be sent out as soon as they are made.
  • We ask that all parents and coaches check Y-Gametime on a regular basis to see any updates to the schedule.
    • We aim to communicate all these updates to coaches; however, every individual is responsible to stay up to date with their game schedule and any changes that may happen.

TeamReach App:

Contact Information:

  • We encourage everyone to ensure that all contact information submitted is accurate and up to date.
  • While we are introducing the use of a new app “TeamReach” this information still will be used
  • All information to sign-up for and register for the correct team will be sent via email.
    • So please ensure your email and phone number are current and up to date!
    • Also please check your email and text messages regularly to stay informed.

Necessary Equipment:

  • 6U and up must have shin guards.
  • Athletic wear (shorts or pants).
  • Closed-toed shoes.

Recommended Equipment:

  • Soccer cleats are recommended.

In this division, your young athlete(s) will begin their soccer training with FUN games and developing soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and of course, making AWESOME shots on goal. We do encourage parents to participate in our trainings, in order to help their child feel comfortable when developing their soccer skills. This is also a GREAT opportunity for parents to learn drills from coaches to take back home with them to practice.

The season will focus on developing the group in order to play a game at the end of the season.

Little Kicks Sessions will happen once a week on Thursday @ 5:15 at the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA starting on September 14th and ongoing Thursdays until November 2nd.

There will be a parent meeting on August 29th, 2023 at 6:30 pm in the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA Library. There will also be coaches meeting on August 31st, 2023 at 6:30 pm in the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA Library for anyone interested in coaching or those who have already asked to coach.

In this division, your young athlete(s) will begin their soccer training with FUN games and developing soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and of course, making AWESOME shots on goal. In this division, your young athlete(s) will be able to apply their basic soccer skills at an elevated level through tactical drills to improve players dribbling, passing, shooting, and field positioning in an 6-game soccer season.

Players will be assigned to a volunteer coach. Practice times during the week will be determined by our volunteer coach. Practices and Games will take place at the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA on weekdays and weekends.

There is no skills night for this age group

Your child will then be selected for a team by September 8th at the absolute latest. Practices will begin the week of September 11th. Games will begin on September 30th. Games will be played on weekdays and Saturdays.

We will have a parent meeting on August 29th, 2023 in the Ruby C. Hunt Library at 6:30 PM. We will have a coaches meeting for anyone interested in coaching on August 31st, 2023 in the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA Library at 6:30 PM.

Teams will be formed by the Sports Coordinator the week of September 4th. There is no guarantee any requests made about team placement will be met. Once teams are made they are set, there will be no roster switches.
