Member Story
The Crowells, members at the Kings Mountain Family YMCA, are fully immersed in YMCA activities. It may be basketball and soccer for the kids or working out and volunteering for the parents. The Crowells LOVE THEIR Y!
The YMCA Circle of Friends is in essence the Hall of Fame for the Cleveland County Family YMCA. It is an award shared by past winners Mike Holman, John Godbold, Charlie Harry, Larry Wilson, Chris Turner, Kim Price, Robin Hendrick, David Banks, Stuart LeGrand and Sally Royster.
“When I started the LiveStrong at the YMCA program, I had been through the wars with Breast Cancer,” shared Coraleen Littlejohn (pictured with Jay Jackson). “After the surgeries and the chemotherapy, I wasn’t sure I could physically do anything. Jay Jackson helped give me my life back.”
A couple of years ago, YMCA member Doug Austin, asked YMCA staff to find him a family that needed help so he could buy a full Thanksgiving meal. This past Thanksgiving, it turned into 8 families. Doug didn’t want anyone to know, he just wanted to know that he was helping families that truly needed help.
