PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION BEFORE REGISTERING!

General:

We will have a parent meeting during each age groups slot on Welcome Day on 11/14/26 for ages 7-15, please read below for your child’s age group and time. We will have a coaches meeting for anyone interested in coaching on Thursday, November 12th, 2026 in the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA Library at 6:00 PM.

All players 7-15 should attend their age groups Welcome Day session and first skills clinic!

Players in the 5-6 coed group will have a Skills Clinic to kick off the season! This Skills Clinic for 5-6 coed will be on 11/19/26 at 6:00 PM at the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA! The parent meeting for 5-6 coed will be held during this skills clinic on 11/19/26 at 6:00 PM.

*Some leagues may have to inter-league which will involve travel to the Dover and Kings Mountain YMCA’s.

PLEASE READ THE DETAILS BELOW:

Welcome Day (11/14/26):

  • Welcome Day will be for any players 7-15 years or older.
    • There will be no Welcome Day for any player that is younger than 7 years old or older than 15 years old.
      • Parents of age groups 3-4 Little Hoops and 16-18 Boys Basketball are welcome to attend the parent meetings at 9:00 AM on Welcome Day (11/14/26). Parents in 5-6 coed will have their parent meeting at their child’s skills clinic on 11/19/26 at 6:00 PM.
  • 16-18 boys will be bring your own team. Free agents will either be placed on teams or have a team made of free agents

Ages 7-15 will have the following Welcome Days and Skills Clinics:

  • 9:00 AM: 7-8 Boys
  • 10:00 AM: 7-9 Girls
  • 11:00 AM: 9-10 Boys
  • 1:00 PM: 10-12 Girls & 13-15 Girls
  • 2:00 PM: 11-12 Boys
  • 3:00 PM: 13-15 Boys

Skills Clinics (11/16/26, 11/17/26 & 11/19/26):

Skills Clinics are an opportunity for players to build skills and confidence through drills and games, while our staff and coaches evaluate players to help in our goal of creating equally competitive teams. These clinics will be led by qualified volunteers or staff so coaches can focus on player evaluation. These clinics will be intentionally designed to build and reinforce foundational skills for the sport in a fun social environment to create excitement and belonging for the players, parents, coaches, and staff involved in making our league happen!

Ages 5-15 will have the following Skills Clinics:

11/16/26:

  • 6:00 PM: 7-8 Boys
  • 7:00 PM: 9-10 Boys
  • 8:00 PM: 11-12 Boys

11/17/26:

  • 6:00 PM: 7-9 Girls
  • 7:00 PM: 10-12 Girls & 13-15 Girls
  • 8:00 PM: 13-15 Boys

11/19/26:

  • 6:00 PM: 5-6 Coed

REGISTRATION:

  • On-time registration will go from September 4th to November 13th, 2026.
  • Late registration will be from November 14th to November 27th, 2026.
    • Age groups may be capped after on-time registration due to team size limits. Please sign up during on-time registration to secure your spot.
  • This winter, ALL GIRLD PLAY BASKETBALL FOR FREE AT YMCA! 
    • Thank you to Beam Construction for making this happen for our community
      • No prior experience needed; it’s a great season to try basketball. This is an amazing chance to get more girls active, confident, and connected!

Member Rate: $40.00

Non-Member Rate: $70.00

A late fee of $10.00 will be charged to anyone who signs up after November 13th, 2026.

Financial Assistance available upon request.

PRACTICES:

  • Team practices will start the week of November 30th, 2026.
  • Practices will be on a weekday evening, excluding Wednesdays.
    • This means your practices could be on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday starting anytime from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM (5:00 PM-5:45 PM Tuesdays or Thursdays for Little Hoops)
    • We allow our volunteer coaches to pick their practice days to best fit their schedule since they are giving their time to volunteer for our community.
      • Please be available for any of the potential days and times listed above.
    • An initial message about practice will come sometime after your child’s skills clinic or, if your child is in 3-4 Little Hoops or 16-18 Basketball and does not have a skills clinic, by November 27th, 2026.
  • There will be no events from December 21st to December 27th. Practices will resume the following week

GAMES:

  • IF YOU WILL HAVE CONSISTENT CONFLICTS WITH THE DATES/DAYS PROVIDED BELOW, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE DATES/DAYS ARE FINAL AND WILL NOT BE CHANGED UNLESS UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES ARISE.
  • Games will start for basketball on January 8th, 2027.
  • Games at Ruby will be on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings/afternoons.
    • This means your games could be on a Friday starting anytime from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday starting anytime from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • If your age division has to inter-league (play with the Kings Mountain or Dover YMCA) you may have some travel. Game days could also be slightly different at other YMCA’s. We aim to avoid interleague play to the best of our ability, but to avoid this each age group at each branch will need at least 32 players for 4 total teams.
    • Inter-league play may involve traveling to the Kings Mountain or Dover YMCAs for games and could happen for any age division (except 3-4 Little Hoops)
  • Teams will play an eight-game season. Little Hoops (3-4-year-old basketball) does not play games. Little Hoops will instead have six practice sessions; from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM on Tuesdays or Thursdays. For Little Hoops there will be one session each week.

PARTICIPANT REQUESTS:

  • NOT ALL REQUESTS WILL BE MET AND WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT ANY REQUEST WILL BE MET.
  • We do accept requests for specific teams or coaches; however, only if these requests are made out of necessity (transportation, family, work schedule, etc.)
    • Please do not request specific coaches or players out of preference.
    • We desire for our sports program to build a community and belonging, which involves our participants and parents meeting new people and creating new bonds.
  • Please only request a teammate or coach if you absolutely need it.
  • With this in mind, NOT ALL REQUESTS WILL BE MET AND WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT ANY REQUEST WILL BE MET.

GAME SCHEDULES (Y-Gametime):

  • For all game scheduling we will be using the Y-Gametime
  • We ask that all parents and coaches check Y-Gametime on a weekly basis to see any updates to the schedule.
    • We aim to communicate any updates to coaches and parents; however, every individual is responsible for staying up to date with their game schedule and any changes that may happen.

  • We encourage everyone to ensure that all their contact information submitted is accurate and up to date on their account by contacting our YMCA Welcome Center staff.
    • You can simply call the YMCA front desk to double check this.
  • You will most likely receive text messages from coaches.
  • You will certainly receive emails from staff about updates and important information!
    • So please ensure your email and phone number are current and up to date on your child’s registration!

This is strictly for fun outlet to allow high schoolers to play together.  There is NO Welcome Day or Skills Clinic for this age group. This is a bring-your-own-team league. 16-18 will be allowed to bring their own team.

Players must put their coach and team captain’s name in the additional information section of their registration to be put on their team.

IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT HAVE A TEAM TO BRING, THEY CAN STILL SIGN UP! Free agents (Players without a team) will be placed on another team or placed on a team of free agents.

Teams for this age group will be set by November 27th, 2026.

Practices will begin the week of November 30th, 2026.

Games will begin on January 8th, 2027.

Games will be played mainly on Fridays and Saturdays, but there may be weeknight games if necessary. There will be no events from December 22nd, 2025, to December 28th, 2025. Events will resume with a week of optional practices on December 28th, 2025.

Since this is a bring your own team league, it will not be competitively balanced. Some teams that come in may be better or worse than others, but this league is about fun and camaraderie around the game of basketball!
