Summer camp

June 29th Update

Dear Day Camp Families,

The safety and well-being of our campers and staff has always been our top priority, and this year it’s more important than ever.

Following Governor Cooper’s latest executive order, all children age eleven or older are required to wear face coverings to day camp beginning Monday, June 29. We ask that your child arrive at camp each day with his or her own face covering to be used indoors and outdoors. Campers and staff are expected to wear face coverings when not engaged in vigorous exercise or play that would make breathing in mask difficult.

Our Y protects campers, staff and families by following strict COVID-19 guidelines established with guidance from the CDC, NCDHHS and local health officials. We appreciate your support as we work together to keep our community safe.

If you have questions about our Y’s safety measures, please contact the Family Programs Director of your branch.

Thank you.

The Cleveland County YMCA offers Summer Camps that are educational, fun and enriching to all children. At the Y our camps will focus on improving the health and well-being of all of our campers. We do this through an intentional focus on three areas of well-being that children need: Relationships, Achievement and Belonging.

Through the Y’s day camp program, kids participate in fun and educational activities that help them:

· Learn and master skills that help them realize their passions, talents and potential;

· Build friendships with new friends and staff role models, adding to their well-being;

· Help them feel like they belong so they feel safe, welcome and free to express their individuality.

For parents and guardians who enjoy seeing their child’s face glow when retelling a camp story and want to see their child accomplish new things, the Y encourages you to enroll them in day camp today!

The Y offers Summer Camp Programs in Shelby at the Dover Foundation YMCA, in Kings Mountain at the Kings Mountain Family YMCA, in Boiling Springs at the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA and Rutherford County. Contact your Local YMCA for more information and join us for Summer Camp in 2020.
