Building Strong Kids, Strong Families, Strong Communities...

Counselor

Camp Mountaineer is committed to inspire meaningful experiences through a variety of fun and safe activities such as swimming, arts & crafts, team building games, field trips and more!

All of our staff are carefully selected based on their past experiences, attitudes, as well as their ability to accept and demonstrate the positive values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. These "Professional Role Models" are zany and energetic people who are dedicated to working with campers and inspire them to form friendships, try new adventures and create lasting memories.

We look forward to sharing these experiences with your family this summer!

What is a typical day at Camp Mountaineer like?

Rides-in begin at 7:30 a.m. at the gym doors. Games are played until Morning Assemblies start at 9:00 a.m. where we have a morning devotion, sing silly songs and do a brief outline of the day. Your camper will swim everyday (weather permitting) except on Tuesday - our designated Field Trip Day. Parents are invited to come and play with us or join us for lunch anytime though we do ask that you let us know ahead of time so we can give you the day's schedule. We wouldn't want you to miss out on anything fun!

How do I know that my camper's YMCA Counselor is qualified to work with my camper?

Our counselors go through a two week training period (approximatley 40 hours) where they learn Risk Management, Basic School Age Childcare, Games and Devotions, Special Needs, CPR and First Aid.

What should my camper bring everyday?

Campers need to bring 2 snacks, a lunch and at least 3 drinks everyday. Microwaves and refrigerators are availble.

What should my camper leave at home?

We ask that all handheld games, cell phones and toys be left at home. Our goal is to make sure that your camper is having so much fun they won't have time to make phone calls or play gameboys!
