Welcome to the Dover Foundation YMCA Wellness Department! Be sure to make an appointment at the Welcome Center for your Free Fitlinxx Orientation, so our Certified Trainers can set up your program and show you how to use the equipment. Need more help? We also have Personal Training available and Diet Consultations with a registered Dietician by appointment.

Human Development and Performance Enhancement

This program is designed to enable the athletic performance of individuals that are highly motivated and driven in the direction of perfection in sports and life. Shamar Finney the facilitator of this program is committed to creating, directing and implementing strategies through exercise science that result in physiological and psychological development. Training takes place in a small group environment and are open to anyone age 10-20.

Members $5 per session ($40 per month)

Non-members $ 20 per session ($160.00 per month)

Coach Connection

The Coach Connection is a one-on-one wellness process aimed to increase self efficacy and exercise adherence. Each participant will meet with a wellness coach for individual coaching appointments. During these appointments your coach will help you set goals, make lifestyle modifications and design an individual exercise program. Your progress will be tracked throughout the life of your YMCA Membership.

The Coach Connection is a free program for all new can current YMCA members! The Coach Connection is available by appointment only. Sign up at the Welcome Center today!

Running Club

Are you interested in running? Do you sometimes wish you could share this activity with others? Or have you been thinking that you'd really like to start running, but perhaps you just need a little encouragement and support?

No commitment, no registration, just show up! Connect with other runners, meet people that enjoy the same activity that you enjoy. Or, if you are new to running or even if you haven't started yet, come get some support and encouragement from others. Click below for more detailed information.

Water Fitness

A terrific way to tone and strengthen muscles, develop cardiovascular endurance and increase flexibility! By using the natural resistance of water, WATER FITNESS gives participants a great workout that is gentle on the joints. No swimming skills are necessary for shallow water fitness. Participants should be comfortable in the water for deep water fitness. Flotation devices are available for use during deep water activities. Open to all members, no registration required!

Here's what we offer!

Basic Water : This full-body workout is a combination of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscle conditioning, and interval training.
Deep Water : This full-body workout is a combination of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscle conditioning, and interval training, is conducted in the deep end of the pool. Participants can achieve an increased range of motion using non-impact movements.
Stretch & Tone : This class uses water-resistant exercises that will help to improve flexibility and strength. In addition, it gives you a great cardiovascular workout.

Tae Kwon Do

An exciting way to learn self-discipline, exercise, & meet new friends. Mr. Robert Wilson is a positive role model & a skilled instructor, & we are fortunate to have him at the YMCA. Parents are welcome to participate with their children. 

Ages: 5 to Adult
Fee: $40/ month for members & $60 for non-members.
Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays at 5:00, 6:00, or 7:00PM; Ask at the Welcome Center for more information.


Personal Training

Do you need some extra motivation or advice to improve your fitness level? Schedule a session with a YMCA Personal Trainer. All of our trainers have years of fitness experience and are certified by ACE, ACSM, NSCA,or AFAA, in addition to YMCA certification.

Ages: 10 to Adult
Fee: Level I Trainers start at $40 an hour and Level II Trainers start at $45 an hour.

Diet Consultations

Lynn Sullens or Carol Johnson registered and licensed dieticians are taking appointments for personal diet consultations at the YMCA. They will look at your current habits and lifestyle, help you set individual goals, and work out a plan to help you meet your goals. 

Age: Teens and Adults
Fee: $65 for 1 hour, Members only 
Schedule: Call Lynn at (704) 481-9677 or Carol at (704) 739-1970 for an appointment.
