Two-Day Course

August 2 , 2008 (8:30A.M. - 5:30P.M.)

August 3 , 2008 (12:30P.M. - 7:00P.M.)

This course meets the training requirement as set forth by theState

of North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Valid for 5 years and includes NSPF Pool/Spa Operators Handbook.

All students need note taking materials and a calculator for class.

Aquatic Programs:

  • Water Aerobics ( A terrific way to tone and strengthen muscles, develop cardiovascular endurance and increase flexibility!)
  • Parent/Child Swim Lessons ( Accompanied by their parents, this class is designed to introduce infants & toddlers to aquatics.)
  • Youth Swim Lessons (Is a nine level program with each level building on the proceeding level.)
  • Adult Swim Lessons (Offered in a one-on-one or small group instruction for any level of swimming ability.)
  • Swim Team (Is a continuation after completing Shark Level Swim Lessons.)
  • Lifeguard Training Class (The training offers American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and CPR-PR/First Aid Certification.)
  • CPR and First Aid Training (The training offers American Red Cross CPR-PR/First Aid Certification.)
  • Lap Swim (Offered all day long and will always have a lap lane available to share.)
  • Recreational Swim (Offered all day except during Water Fitness.)
  • Scuba Classes (Classes are available on all year round upon request)
  • Birthday Parties (Offered Friday, Saturday, and Sundays.)

WATER FITNESS is a terrific way to tone and strengthen muscles, develop cardiovascular endurance and increase flexibility! By using the natural resistance of water, WATER FITNESS gives participants a great workout that is gentle on the joints. No swimming skills are necessary for shallow water fitness. Participants should be comfortable in the water for deep water fitness. Flotation devices are available for use during deep water activities. Open to all members, no registration required!

Basic Water : This full-body workout is a combination of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscle conditioning, and interval training.
Deep Water : This full-body workout is a combination of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscle conditioning, and interval training, is conducted in the deep end of the pool. Participants can achieve an increased range of motion using non-impact movements.
Stretch & Tone : This class uses water-resistant exercises that will help to improve flexibility and strength. In addition, it gives you a great cardiovascular workout.

Learning to Scuba dive is safe and affordable, and requires a modest amount of training. Please fill out an interest form and the Instructor will contact you and set up times and dates for the Scuba class. The cost of a course depends upon the class size, instructor, and materials needed.

Preschool
Ages 3-5

The preschool swimming class is for children who have little water experience but are ready to develop water skills in a group environment without a parent.

 

Fee: Members $20 / $55 Non-members for 8 lessons

Session VIII – September 8 – October 4

Session IX – October 13 – November 8

Session X – November 17 – December 13

Youth
Ages 5 through 12 (45 minute class)

Youth swimming is a six level program with each level building on the preceding one with the core basics of swimming being continually reinforced. The last 5 minutes of class is for games, water slide or free time depending on the group level.

  • Polliwog - introductory level (ex. Repetitive bubble-blowing; assisted back floating)
  • Guppy - beginner skills (ex. Alternating arms on stomach and back)
  • Minnow - intermediate skills (ex. One length swimming on back)
  • Fish - intermediate swimmer skills
  • Flying Fish - advanced intermediate skills
  • Shark - advanced swimmer skills

 

Fee: $25 Members / $60 Non-Members for 8 classes

The training offers American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification and CPR-PR /First-Aid Certification. Participants have to be at least 15 years old and must complete the prerequisites on the first day of class. There must be at least 5 participants to make a class.

Fee: $120 Members / $145 Non-Members

Are you an experienced Lifeguard?

We are now seeking highly motivated individuals that are knowledgeable in aquatics as Lifeguards for morning and afternoon shifts. We will be accepting applications at the Welcome Center.
