PROGRAM INFO

What is Leaders Club?

The GWSY Leaders’ Club program is for students in grades 6 thru 8. It is an exciting and productive program that focuses on community service, social development, leadership training and physical development. All members play an active role in the Leaders’ Club and are responsible for achieving personal growth through goals defined by each member and the club.

Who Should Join?

Students in grades 6 thru 8, who enjoy physical activity, participating in community service projects, working with younger youth and who are striving to be Leaders are encouraged to apply. Leaders must be a role model to others; therefore, it is required that the Leaders maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. All Leaders are expected to maintain physical fitness and will be asked to demonstrate skills and lead events. Candidates must enter with a positive attitude displaying the YMCA Character Traits of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Faith and Responsibility.

What do we do?

Each member of the club strives to become a community leader through various service projects and trainings. Teens attend weekend rallies, social activities and fitness events. The training classes offered are to benefit the members through developing skills and the knowledge to use these skills. Each Cleveland County Family YMCA Leader will enhance their skills and refine their personal strengths by attending/ volunteering in a variety of programs and events.

For more information, please contact Shayne Collins, Director of Family Programs at the Dover Foundation YMCA at scollins@clevecoymca.org or 704-669-3634.
