Group Fitness Class Descriptions

Classes are for ages 15 & up. Children ages 10-14 may attend with a parent. We suggest that everyone, especially children, start with beginner and intro level classes. These classes are marked with an asterisk (*) below. Please inform the instructor if you are new and of any medications or medical conditions that might affect you ability to exercise. Those with muscular or joint injuries, inflammation or other limitations should check with the instructor to find an appropriate class.

*Cycling: High-intensity, calorie-burning class. Space is limited, so come early! Bring a towel and water bottle; cycling shorts recommended. Adaptable to all fitness levels.

Drop It, Rip It: Complete body workout designed to boost your metabolism while toning each muscle group. THIS CLASS IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR BEGINNERS!

*Hip Hop Abs: Dance your way to hot sexy abs and burn fat! For all fitness levels.

*Kickboxing: A great calorie burner! This is a unique combination of aerobics and martial arts. Not recommended for those with muscular or joint injuries, inflammation or other limitations.  Intermediate to Advanced and high impact.

*Step: A great workout that keeps your heart pumping. For all fitness levels.

*Yoga: Strength training, stretching, abdominal work and relaxation for terrific all around toning. All levels.

*Zumba: It’s fun! It’s different! It’s easy! It’s effective! It is a fusion of Latin and International music-dance themes creating a dynamic, exciting, effective aerobics fitness system. All levels.

*Adult Climb: What better way to experience the wall for the first time!  Come learn the basic fundamentals to indoor rock climbing or tone up your skills.

Do you need some extra motivation or advice to improve your fitness level? Schedule a session with a YMCA Personal Trainer. All of our trainers have years of fitness experience and are certified by ACE, ACSM, NSCA,or AFAA, in addition to YMCA certification.

Ages: 10 to Adult

Fee: Level I Trainers start at $40 an hour and Level II Trainers start at $45 an hour.
Schedule: By appointment with trainer. More info at Welcome Center

The Ruby C. Hunt YMCA is proud to support and provide free to its members the Stanford Health and Lifestyle Assessment tool. (SHALA)

SHALA is an online tool designed to assess individuals’ current state of health and determine their readiness for making a lifestyle change. Ready to really supercharge your current workout? The YMCA has recently added FitLinxx, a state-of-the-art technology that is a great way to track your progress, stay motivated, and achieve results. FitLinxx automatically captures activity data performed inside the YMCA. You will also have an online account at www.FitLinxx.com with the ability to enter additional recreational activities you might participate in outside of the facility, such as golfing, gardening or hiking etc. Make an appointment at our Welcome Center  for a consultation with a Wellness Coach to determine your goals, desired fitness program and any health concerns you might have (i.e. knee injuries, previous heart-attack, asthma). FitLinxx fits into your lifestyle!

     
 

How to use the FitLinxx website:

  1. Go to www.fitlinxx.com
  2. Under current users & staff, click sign-up for a web account
  3. Enter information and click submit.
  4. Enter pin number that you use at the Ruby C. Hunt YMCA. Under facility name, select Ruby C. Hunt YMCA. You must then either agree or disagree to the service agreement. Click submit.
  5. You are now setup and ready to use the website!
