It is time again when the leaves are falling, the air is cooling and we are reminded to give thanks to our Creator for all of this wonderous beauty.
It reminds me of how unworthy I am of his mercy, grace and the beauty he has placed in my life. I wil never claim to be perfect. I will never claim to not be a sinner. I am. We all are. That is why God sacrificed his only son. The magnitude of that causes me to shudder and brings chills to my body. I could never offer that for anyone, but HE did. WOW! What love our Father has for us. And when we fail him, when we sin...HE STILL LOVES US!
I came in from running (or what a friend and I decided was "wogging") one morning on staff retreat. I asked my roomate to listen to a song called "New Again" by Brad Paisley and Sarah Evans. She listened for about 3 seconds and yelled "you run to this?" You see, the song is about the crucifiction of Jesus sung in the context of a conversation between Jesus and Mary. It's heart wrencing. But my reply was "Yes. Because it reminds of why I am able to run." I am able to live as a sinner and still have eternal life when this life is over because i believe in that sacrifice.
So in this time of Thanksgiving, remember to be thankful for the health you have, not what is lacking; the things you do have, instead of the things you do not; your family who is still with you and those who are not but blessed you while they were here; and the fact that we have the ability to help those less fortunate and in doing so we can share Jesus Christ's sacrifice with them.
HAPPY Thanksgiving to you all! I am so very grateful for each and every one of you!
