 CAMP BRIGHT JOY

Summer Camp Wrap-Up

Wow! These past 8 weeks of Summer Camp have flown by. We are currently in week 9 and still having so much fun! The girls have learned so much over the course of summer camp. They've made new friends and enjoyed old ones. The different theme weeks have allowed the girls to express their creativity ranging from Girls Create Week, where they designed an apartment complex, learning to live and work togehter to High School Musical/Disney Week, where they have completed Disney living on line.

This years Camp Bright Joy was as exciting and as interesting as possible by incorporating "GC World", which was a world in which the girls had their own jobs, businesses, bank, school, and expectations. They also had to earn their own money where they had to learn how to budget and pay bills on time. They also had a court system where disputes or behavior issues were settled.   This made summer camp quite interesting. The girls learned how to accept responsibilities that will be needed to survive in the real world.

The field trips were the highlight of each week, ranging from bowling to Beekeeping where they made candles and were able to bring home 'homemade honey'! This has been a great summer for both staff and the girls. The girls have learned alot and the staff learned from them as well.

These activities will be continued in the fall as we prepare for Afterschool.
