LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free program designed for cancer survivors 18 years and older who have become deconditioned or chronically fatigued from their treatment or disease. The goals of the program include:
- Rebuilding muscular strength and endurance
- Increasing flexibility and improving functional ability
- Reducing severity of therapy side effects
- Preventing unwanted weight changes
- Improving self esteem and energy levels
Participants may be eligible for FREE 12‐week Family Membership and may use YMCA facilities at any time. Participants may bring a support person who can participate in a workout of their own.
AGE: 18 and older
COST: Thanks to the generosity of our donors, this program is free to participants; open to members of the YMCA and non-members.
REQUIREMENTS: Participants must receive medical clearance and are evaluated on an individual basis. Patients currently undergoing treatment may participate, but only if they receive proper medical clearance. Health history forms and intake interview must be completed prior to first group meeting.
TIME/DATES: Next session starts January 9, 2012.
