A Life Transformed – Josh Cathcart
In addition to my full time job with Wachovia-Wells Fargo, I have also been a part time employee of the Y since 2005. Before I began working for the Y, I was the member that paid his monthly dues just in case I wanted to work out but never did because of feeling self conscience and awkward in the wellness room. I was unmotivated and overweight.
Finally, one day I got sick and tired of feeling …well, sick and tired. In desperation I prayed for the motivation to become healthier for myself and for my family. It didn’t happen immediately but a month later I began walking on the treadmill everyday for a few minutes. That turned into 30 minutes, then light jogging, and then jogging steadily for extended periods of time. Within 6 months I lost 60 lbs and was running in the Y sponsored 5k races. I even ran a half marathon in Myrtle Beach. The Y has been great for re-building my self esteem and a great place to meet friends that help me to stay motivated.
My wife, Jessica, goes to Dover to exercise on her lunch break. We utilize child watch for our son, Elijah. My son loves interacting with the staff and other children in child watch. That gives us the peace of mind we need to focus on our workout. I love the Y culture and believe in what they do for our community. I am honored to serve my.
